Practice Nursing Team

Our nursing team is managed by Bridget Storey.

Alongside Bridget, we employ seven Practice Nurses: Amanda Ainsworth, Jane Rawding, Jo Cooper, Claire Fulford, Anna Reeves, Sheena Madeley and Tracy Ingle. Together they run our Minor Illness and Minor Injury clinics. The team take on a multitude of treatment room tasks; Complex dressings, post-op wound care, stitch and clip removal, ear syringing, contraceptive pill checks and cervical smears. As well as running a variety of clinics such as Travel or Children’s vaccinations and Respiratory reviews.

Our two Health Care Assistants (HCAs); Angie and Lucy primarily take blood samples, administer some vaccinations, perform wound care and compliment our nursing staff with other duties such as BP monitoring, taking ECGs, diabetic foot checks and giving health advice. They also chaperone our GPs when they carry out Minor Surgery and similar procedures.

Our three phlebotomists; Gini, Carla, and Ruth carry out the bulk of our blood sampling, for the GP and Hospital requested tests. They also perform some other health care duties, such taking blood pressures.

Other Clinical and Patient Support

In recent years, the Practice has expanded its workforce with staff in more dedicated and targetted roles. All these staff bring a whole new breadth of skill and knowledge to General Practice. They include:

  • Physician’s Associate (PA) Charley Banks. A PA is a healthcare professional with a generalist medical education who work alongside doctors providing medical care as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • First Contact Practitioners (FCP) Ben Sibly and Ruth Playford. An FCP is an experienced physiotherapist who has the advanced skills necessary to assess, diagnose and recommend appropriate treatment or referral for musculoskeletal (MSK) problems on a patient’s first contact with healthcare services.
  • Pharmacist Richard and pharmacist technician, Emma. Between them, they perform medication reviews, help with patient prescription queries and carry out many of the medication changes and follow-ups created by hospital discharges. Liaising directly with local pharmacies and the GPs.
  • Cancer Care Coordinator Elaine offers support to newly diagnosed cancer patients. Liaising with other healthcare staff and services, signposting patients to internal and external services and offering support to patient and carers at any point on the pathway.
  • Community Care Coordinator Tracy assists patients in need of help, support, and advice by signposting them to other useful services. Community and Care Co-Ordinators work with the NHS, the Council and voluntary services and have become local experts on what’s happening in your community.
  • Occupational Health Therapist Josie can offer support and advice on mental health and mood issues, sleep health and pain management for example. Aiming to improve health and wellbeing through enabling participation in occupation (the activities, roles, and routines of everyday life).
  • Social Prescriber Mitch enables GPs, nurses and other primary care professionals to refer people to a range of local, non-clinical services to support their health and wellbeing.
  • Mental Health Practitioner Kyrie runs a clinic to review patients with serious mental illnesses. She performs health checks and liaises directly with GPs and the wider mental health services.
