Counselling Service

The counselling service is free and available to all registered patients of Market Drayton Medical Practice and is provided by the Shropshire Psychological Therapies.

It is committed to provide a high quality service by qualified and supervised staff that are themselves committed to professional development.

 What Is Counselling?

Counselling offers you the opportunity to talk to someone in confidence about your problems or issues that concern you. It provides you with the time and space to think and reflect with someone outside your circle of family and friends. It is a therapeutic approach that seeks to help you explore and understand current difficulties, and to make choices in your life.

Counselling aims to help individuals take responsibility for their own decisions, become more aware of their personal resources, more skilled at coping with difficulties and more self reliant in the future.

 What Do We Do?

The counsellor will listen to you carefully as you talk about your thoughts, feelings, other people, the situation and respond to you in a non-judgmental, non-critical way. They will respect your values, choices, and lifestyle. They will help you to find ways to understand what is happening and tackle the problem.

 Who Are The Counsellors?

There is one part-time counsellor who works for the Department of Psychological Therapies, who is qualified and experienced in different types of therapy, and two trainee counsellors.
