Patient Transport

Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS)

For up to date information please see the Shropshire CCG website

The Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin clinical commissioning groups purchase transport services for patients from E-zec, for patients registered with a GP in Shropshire Telford and Wrekin, enabling them to travel to and from routine healthcare appointments.

A Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT) Service is provided for patients who have a medical condition which prevents them from using other forms of transport to travel to and from healthcare appointments. This service is totally separate from the emergency ambulance service and is not provided to people who simply require transport for social or financial reasons, or for those who are able to travel on public transport or by other means to get to their healthcare provider.

You could be entitled to use this service if you are registered with a GP in Shropshire or Telford and Wrekin, and have been referred for treatment to a hospital or another medical establishment. Patients booking this service by phone will be assessed on their eligibility using a short and simple series of questions to establish their fair access to the service.

Following this assessment and you are eligible for the NEPT service, transport will be arranged for you.

The NEPT service in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin is provided by E-zec and we suggest ahead of your next appointment, please call 0300 7770077 to find out if you are eligible.

Shropshire Volunteer Drivers Community Car Scheme

The Shropshire Community Car Scheme is organised and run locally by volunteers to provide transport for essential journeys where public transport is either unsuitable or not available and the passenger does not have access to a vehicle.

This programme has proven invaluable for people who are unable to use other forms of transport and need to get out and about, e.g. a hospital appointment, doctors, dentist or shopping.

Transport can be booked by calling your local volunteer coordinator. Passengers contribute £0.25 per mile towards the cost of the journey cost, your local coordinator can advise you of an approximate cost when you book transport.

To find out more about how you can book and for details of your local coordinator please call: 07908 235299
